Essemtec AG and Promass Assembly Systems B.V cooperate for board handling systems

Press release, April 29, 2009

Essemtec AG, Switzerland, and Promass Assembly Systems B.V. Netherlands decided to cooperate in providing board handling systems for SMT-production, AOI-lines, Marking-lines, Coating-lines Reflow-, Wave Solder lines and Final Assembly Lines. This will complete the turnkey solutions of Essemtec AG. Promass Assembly Systems B.V. provides already over the last years solutions for industries which require intelligent transport and handling, including special Robot systems and Final Assembly Lines. The Dutch provider was looking to improve and support their world wide sales activities.
Promass Assembly Systems B.V. is an integrated engineering company that supports industries with a wealth of experience in the design of production facilities and manufacturing equipment. Promass’ innovative and intelligent solutions have given the company an excellent position in the market. The company was founded by Mr. Johannes Wijbenga in Amsterdam in 1989. From the very beginning, the company focused on project engineering and project management for logistics solutions, particularly manufacturing logistics, assembly lines and dispatch systems.

The company’s philosophy is based on a strong technological background coupled with personal project management. Promass always accompanies the entire project – even with standard products. It develops solutions together with its customer and is focused on flexibility.

Both companies signed an agreement, which defined the cooperation in details. Foreseen is that the standard Promass modules will be manufactured by Essemtec AG in Switzerland. Essemtec AG will be also responsible for the world wide marketing and distribution under their brand name. Non-standard products, like customized automation solutions and Final Assembly Lines will stay with Promass in the Netherlands and will also be offered through Essemtec’s Solutions Business Unit, with respect to the existing Distributors and customer base of Promass.

With this cooperation Essemtec AG will be able to offer board handling systems for each SMT-process. “This will complete our turnkey line strategy. We are now able to offer beside the machines the handling solutions too, according to our philosophy “Full service out of one hand”,” explained Simon Abegg, Essemtec product manager for handling systems.

The cooperation will be officially presented for the first time at the SMT exhibition in Nürnberg, by the beginning of May (5th – 7th of May). Essemtec will join the trade show with the BHLU-06, a loading/unloading system which will be shown with the CDS6200 Jet Dispensing system. The BHLU is an automatic bi directional loading module which is able to load PCBs from a magazine directly into a pick & place dispensing or printing machine and allows to unload the finished boards automatically back into the same rack.  The machine will be presented at the Essemtec booth, hall7, booth no. 203. After the exhibition, Promass and Essemtec will join a complete turnkey line at the exhibition Electronic & Automation 2009 in Utrecht, Netherlands (27th -29th of May), showing Budget Loader of the 355-series, buffer section conveyors BS-500-1, L-turns, workstation BS 1500-3-IS and Budget Unloader of the 355-series.

“For both companies it is a perfect match up. With the strong Essemtec marketing and sales team, Promass will be able to reach new markets world wide and for Essemtec AG it is an other step to a complete SMT solution provider,”  summarized Johannes Wijbenga, CEO of Promass Assembly System B.V and Martin Ziehbrunner, CEO of Essemtec AG.
