Essemtec’s Essemsol to Focus on Application Development

Press release

Essemtec’s new business unit Essemsol combines parts of development and production in order to shorten the realization time for customer-specific solutions. Essemsol is Essemtec’s response to its increased number of exceptional machine solutions.

Customer-specific solutions have always been a standard for Essemtec, the Swiss manufacturer of production systems. It does not take much to adapt a standard machine for a special application ― often software modifications or a mechanical add-on is all that is needed. Nevertheless, such changes interfere with the production of conventional machines. The number of customer-specific solutions has increased so much that Essemtec now combines this market segment in a focused business unit.

The business unit incorporates all activities from former Essemsolar (solar applications), Essemsolution and customer-specific dispenser applications. Essemsol has its own development team and production facilities. This allows customer-specific projects to be planned, realized and documented very efficiently. Furthermore, the customer has one single point of contact throughout the project, from inquiry through installation.

Essemsol realizes customer-specific solutions by adapting standard machines. Modifications can be made from simple software adaptations to complex changes of software, hardware and mechanics. In some cases, the end product may have nothing to do with the original aim of the machine, the production of SMD electronics. Examples include gluing machines for the optical industry or machinery for the production of catalysts. However, even such unusual solutions can be realized professionally within a short time.

Production systems from Essemtec are designed to be highly flexible and expandable. Software, hardware and mechanics are structured modularly so that adding a function does not require rebuilding the whole machine. Essemsol mainly adapts pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, printers, dispensers, handlers and transport modules. But Essemsol also supports certain standard machines, which most often are used for nonstandard products on the customer side. These may include machines for the solar industry as well as dispensers for various industries and applications.

Essemtec expects numerous advantages from the combination of all skills into one business unit, mainly a high-performance gain in the production of standard machines as well as better communication with the customer and a faster implementation of customer-specific solutions.
