New high flexible pick & place machine PANFLEX2

Essemtec, the leading Swiss manufacturer of production systems for the electronics introduces with PANFLEX2 a high flexible high-speed pick & place machine into the market which is up to the demands of the various manufacturing of electronics. By use of the further developed X-vision-system the PANFLEX2 offers more functionality for less money.
Great variety of products, scales from one up to several ten thousands and increasing cost pressure are the challenges of the today production of electronics. The new pick & place machine PANFLEX2 from Essemtec had been developed for these demands of production, exactly. It places the smallest chips of the size 01005 just good as extensive fine-pitch-QFPs with a space of 50 x 50 mm. The height of the component can amount to 15 mm.
The positioning of the electronic components takes place with the help of quick optic laser- and vision systems. PANFLEX2 is fitted out for the first time with the “X-vision” system, developed by Essemtec, which gave also cost saving in addition to more flexibility concerning the forms of the component.
PANFLEX” consists of two parallel operating placing modules which are connected via a multistage conveyor. Each module takes over a part of placing; together they obtain a capacity of 12,000 components per hour. The common transportation system is equipped with a SMEMA interface for the easy connection with other machines at the in- and output.
Up to 190 various components can be prepared simultaneous. This unusual great
receiving capacity enables the fabrication of very complex orders and reduces the time for adaption. For example, electronic components used at several orders can remain on the machine, constantly.
Despite the great capacity, the PANLEX2 is very compact because Essemtec constructs the smallest feeders of the world. These motorised, intelligent component-cassettes are quick, and during the running placement, interchangeable. They can be programmed offline by barcode reader and will be identified by the pick & place machine automatically.
A management of the components with programmable alarm-level is already integrated in the standard software. Optional, the software package offers a complete production-, adaption- and store-management combined with functions for the quality assurance and traceability.
By the graphic user interface the operation is very easy and quick learnable. The same software is in use at all pick & place machines from Essemtec so that programmes and libraries can be exchanged among each other. With the universal CAD-interface coordinate-lists from a layout-software can be changed into finished placing- programmes within seconds. With the integrated virtual-view function these programmes can be checked before placing with the help of the real printing board and be corrected, if necessary. Therefore, the PANFLEX2 can produce charge size one in perfect quality, as well.
PANFLEX2 is a new product which is based on the technology of the successful FLX-pick & place machine series. Feeders, programmes and libraries are compatible completely. PANFLEX2 is developed and manufactured 100% in Switzerland and offers a very high quality level at the product as well as at the service. The Flex2 service package contains, for example, an investment protection programme which guarantees a price of repurchase at a later change to a more efficient pick & place machine.
